Being lost doesn’t mean you’re broken—it means you need a compass

When You’re Lost, Set a Goal (And Why It Changes Everything)

Have you ever felt like your whole world has been pulled out from under you?

Like everything familiar has shifted overnight and you’re left… drifting?

I call this the black hole.

I’ve been there more than once—after losing my dad, after corporate burnout, after being fired. Each time, I felt the same spiral: out of control, scared, trapped in the unknown. If you’ve been there, you know how dark and heavy it feels.

When you feel like you are stuck in a kayak, on a huge lake, without a paddle, craving freedom and flexibility more than ever.
When you feel like you are stuck in a kayak, on a huge lake, without a paddle, craving freedom and flexibility more than ever.

But here’s the truth: the way out of the black hole isn’t a giant leap. It’s one small, grounded step at a time. And that step begins with setting a goal.

Why a Goal is Your Lifeline

When everything feels chaotic, your goal becomes your anchor.

The point isn’t perfection—it’s direction. Self compassion is helpful here - to know that what you want right now will probably change as the dust settles. And that's ok. The point is that as you adapt and grow your resilience, you will find more clarity in what you want for this next phase of life.

A goal pulls you out of the downward spiral and points you toward something that feels possible.

And when you focus your thoughts and energy on something positive, even small, you start to spark momentum.

Purpose awakens.

Clarity follows.

And slowly, piece by piece, resilience begins to rebuild.

The Mountain Range of Emotions

Picture this: you’re climbing a mountain. The grief, the shame, the confusion (or whatever emotion is coming up for you) —it’s the steep grind uphill. Every part of you wants to turn back, to give up, to collapse into the “black hole.”

But when you have a goal, it keeps you moving.

One more step.

One more breath.

One more small victory.

Eventually, you reach the summit. You look out and see a horizon that’s wide open and full of possibility. You feel proud, grounded, flexible. The climb was hard—but it made you stronger.

That’s the power of a goal. It’s not about the summit itself.

It’s about who you become on the way up.

The feeling of freedom and opportunity when you look over the beautiful horizon feeling proud of how far you've come.

You Don’t Have to Do This Alone

If this resonates with you, I want you to know: you don’t have to navigate this climb by yourself.

That’s why I created The Freedom Formula Program—to help expats and high-achievers rebuild resilience, reclaim flexibility, and design a life on their own terms.

Here’s how you can start:

1:1 Coaching – A private, intimate space to go deep into your journey. [Read more].

Group Coaching – A community of like-minded people who get it, so you can grow together. [Read more].

Workshop: Building Resilience & Networking – Happening 10th September 2025, a powerful space to reset and expand your wolfpack. [Sign up here].

Because the truth is—resilience isn’t built in isolation. It’s built with structure, accountability, and the right people by your side.

So if you’re standing at the bottom of your mountain, wondering how you’ll ever make it up—take one step. Set one goal. And don’t climb alone.

Your wolfpack is waiting.
